What to Wear for your Family Photos in Kalgoorlie?

Firstly, I want to start by saying that this is only a guide! I want you to feel and look like you and your family so if cowboy boots, jeans, and denims are your style, I am ALL FOR IT. This is your family story!

Kalgoorlie’s backdrop is absolutely stunning and makes for some impressive family photos!

So what to wear?

I LOVE the earthy, vibrant tones that complement our stunning nature but also those beautiful neutrals which really make you POP!

I recommend the muted tone palette such as these gorgeous tones - these match the style of my work and make for really beautiful tones in your imagery. But you don't have to limit yourself, you could choose any muted colour tones that you truly love! If it's a Wildflower session, I'd suggest a light tone of any colour to really pop against the purple Mulla Mulla.

A color palette featuring muted earth tones including beige, brown, sage green, and dusty rose rectangles in a row.

So how do you Co-ordinate Everyone's Wardrobe?

First - Choose just a few complimentary tones that you love - you don't have to all match, unless you specifically wish to! Your family photos are all about connection and your unique bond and clothing plays a very important role in how your images turn out.

Second - Choose the style of clothes suitable for the season we are in.

For the Kids - Think cozy, adorable knits and rompers or beautiful flowy dresses for little ones that are easy to move in. Also keep it simple, fine prints and florals work beautifully but the key is don’t dress everyone in a print/pattern, perhaps just one person in the group unless they are wearing matching outfits. For winter, layers work really beautiful.

For the Women & Mums - Think flowy, easy to move in dresses or pants, these allow for movement but also with the wind flow, it adds beautiful motion into your imagery too.

For the Men & Dads - Think casual shorts/chinos and collared or t-shirts style, linen/cotton shirts.

Hot Tips!

I recommend:

To leave the chunky jewellery and watches at home (unless sentimental to you)

At your shoot location, remember to take phones and items out of all pockets, I will carry them for you!

Don't forget the iron, especially the sleeves line on new shirts.

Please bring mosquito stickers for kids and wear repellant spray.

WARNING - THE FLIES ARE FRIENDLY IN KAL! One thing we cannot avoid, is the flies, so please be prepared for some fly swatting moves. (You are able to buy fly repellant sun-cream but it may not be suitable for little babies.)

And lastly, as always I am here to help make your session easy and stress free, so please feel free anytime to send me what you are thinking to wear for your sessions and I will help guide you. I'll check in with you regardless, just to make sure you are prepared.

I hope this guide helps you and I look forward to capturing beautiful memories for your family soon!
